» Farmers Market celebrating its 10th year

The Bandon Little Farmers Market is celebrating its 10th year. The market will open for the summer season on Saturday, July 11.

“As always, the market will feature the finest and freshest of locally grown produce for sale to the public,” said market manager Nancy Evans.

Every week, customers will find a new selection of fruits and vegetables all grown within the local region. Produce vendors specialize in organic produce and wild harvested items, but conventional produce is also sometimes available. Vendors are asked to display a sign identifying if their produce is not organic.

“The market is sponsored each year by Bandon Organic Growers as a service to the local community,” Evans said. “We know most customers prefer to know if their purchases are grown organically, so we require the vendors to make this very clear by telling customers how their produce is grown and handled. We love to include new growers/vendors each season and welcome interest in selling at our market.”

Space at the market is limited, so anyone interested in a space is asked to contact Evans now to reserve a spot, either for one market or all season. The spaces, including a table and chair, are free, but vendors must have a reservation in advance.

The market will be held every Saturday until Sept. 25, with the exception of Cranberry Festival, Saturday, Sept. 12. The market is held at the north entrance to Old Town, in the courtyard of the Tea-by-the-Sea and Oregon Wine Tasting Room and begins at 10 a.m. sharp. Sales are on a first-come first-served basis. The market welcomes customers with WIC and Senior Nutrition USDA coupons. For more information or to receive a vendor application, call Evans at 347-9081.
