Artist reception July 5 at SAGESAGE Gallery is hosting Moments, a photographic exhibit by Langlois artist Pat Stannard.
Stannard discovered the art of photography rather recently, describing it almost as an extension of her career as a counselor, according to a press release. Connecting it to this background, she likens it to “always sensing, seeing and honoring each individual (each moment) ... to unlock the beauty that is inherent to them.”
Moments reflects Stannard’s quiet capture of tranquil, often fleeting scenes encountered daily along Floras lake and during her travels in the United States and Central America.
Stannard attributes much of her photographic success to local instructors.
“This show is a result of friendships and an eagerness to learn, to expand horizons,” Stannard said. “I am grateful to all and look forward to the next moment.”
The public is invited to meet Stannard during a reception in her honor from 3 to 6 p.m., Sunday, July 5, at SAGE Gallery, 390 First St, SW, at the edge of Old Town, Bandon.

New Artists murder mysteryNew Artists Productions will stage the Billy St. John comedy and whodunit “Murder’s In the Heir,” as a theater-in-the-round at Bandon’s Harbortown Events Center July 17-19.
“Essentially, the board game Clue has been turned into a play,” said New Artists Productions co-founder Anita Almich, who with her husband Dan is directing the play.
Each of the heirs to the tyrannical billionaire Simone Starkweather has the means and the motive to do away with her. Starkweather gathers her family and employees to announce the contents of her will. Her lawyer reveals that Starkweather has bequeathed vast fortunes to her befuddled niece, her playboy son her great-niece and her granddaughter, as well as to her many servants.
But there’s a twist. Within hours the will is to become invalid and replaced by a less generous one. Of course, the rejected heirs are not pleased. Predictably, the lights go out, and Simone is discovered murdered.
“Each of the three performances will have a different killer, so patrons who enjoy one performance can see it again and be surprised in an entirely different way,” said Almich.
Cast members include Destyni Fuller, Jeneveve Winchell, Emily Wampler, Autumn Moss-Strong, Russel Hay, Tessa Fuller, Hayley Chandler, Zeta Hay, Kinzi Silburn, Kayla Dugan, Frances Merriam, Paige Smith, Lee Anna Saunders and Thaddeus Miller.
Three showings of “Murder’s In the Heir” will be staged, with curtains at 7 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, July 17 and 18, and at 2 p.m., Sunday, July 19. Doors open one hour prior to curtain.
Only 60 tickets will be sold per performance to accommodate the theater-in-the-round staging. Tickets cost $15 for adults; $12 for seniors and students (K-12) and include a dessert and beverage.
Tickets are available at Bandon True Value Hardware, Chetco Federal Credit Union, or by calling Anita Almich at 347-2517. The Harbortown Events Center is located at 325 Second Street, in Old Town Bandon.
This New Artists Productions special summertime event is a fundraiser to pay for an educational field trip to Eugene to see plays, meet cast members, take theater tours and attend a concert the first weekend of August. In addition, six students will perform in the Public Jam event at The Hult Center on Aug.1, singing songs in tribute to Irving Berlin.
