» Fourth of July events planned

The Bandon Lions Club’s community Fourth of July celebration will begin with a parade and flyover at 10 a.m. on Friday, July 4. The U.S. Coast Guard also will fly over during the parade.

Grand marshals for the parade will be Judy and Ron Knox, directors of the Bandon Historical Society. Parade entrees are to assemble along Ninth Street Southwest, down the street from Dairy Queen, 9 a.m. For more information on the parade, call organizer Jeff Norris at 290-5383.

The Lions’ third-annual Family Fun Day in City Park will take place from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Hamburger and Polish dog meals will be served. Rootbeer floats, sodas and ice cream also will be available.

Children are invited to enjoy two Jump 4 Fun inflatables, along with games, face painting and balloons.

Entertainment will be provided by the All Girls Impromptu Pickup Band.

Bandon’s annual fireworks display will take place near the Coquille River at approximately 10 p.m. The fireworks are sponsored by the Bandon Chamber of Commerce. Donations are still being collected for the $13,000 display and can be made at the Visitor Center. For more information on the Lions July 4 events, call John Hubbard, 347-3573, or Katy Morehead, 347-7126.

The Fourth of July weekend also will include the Coos Kennel Club’s all-breed dog show on Saturday and Sunday at Bandon High School, and an all-car show and shine on Saturday at the Bandon Shopping Center.

A schedule of events appears on Pages A6 and A7.
