» Deputies make assault arrest

Coos County sheriff’s deputies arrested a Bandon man Saturday, June 22, on an assault charge.

According to the Coos County sheriff’s log, deputies responded at 2:21 a.m. to a report of an assault at 83202 North Bank Lane in Bandon. Deputies arrested George Hoggatt, 57, on a fourth-degree assault charge.

He was taken to Coos County’s jail, where he was held in lieu of $7,500 bail.

Accident injures one

A Bandon woman was taken to the hospital following a single-vehicle crash Thursday, June 19, on U.S. Highway 101 south of Bandon.

According to an Oregon State Police press release, a 2004 GMC Yukon crashed into a guardrail on the west side of the highway near milepost 275 at about 1 p.m. The driver, Carolyn Lucas, 60, was taken to Southern Coos Hospital in Bandon by a private party.

According to a hospital spokeswoman, Lucas was treated and released.

The southbound lane of Highway 101 was blocked for about 45 minutes until the badly damaged vehicle was removed, the press release said.
